CONCEPT & CONTEXT
Skin 2.0 treats language as a material force—something that enters the body and stays there. Returning to a fragment from Vivisections written in the wake of sexual violence, the video doesn’t reenact an event; it tracks persistence: how a sentence can lodge under the skin and keep working long after it was spoken.
The body registers this persistence as interruption rather than narrative. Words return in uneven rhythms—steady, then breaking—mirroring the gap between distance and sudden visceral recall. Skin fissures. Rust gathers at the edges of nails. Memory appears as texture, as residue, as sediment in breath and muscle. What surfaces is not a coherent story but a pattern of echoes and refusals.
Formally, the work is pared down. Harsh light. Close, almost claustrophobic framing. A minimal soundscape that leaves no room for aesthetic relief. Vulnerability isn’t performed for effect; it’s presented as a condition—exposure without ornament, endurance without uplift.
Healing is not the arc. Skin 2.0 stays with what remains: the way language can function as both wound and survival tool at once. Speaking becomes negotiation—an attempt to claim agency without denying what has been carried. Each repetition risks reopening what never fully closed. The video refuses catharsis and closure, insisting instead on the ongoing work of living inside a body shaped—and reshaped—by words.
